  38. .I tiffdump
  39. displays directory information from files created according
  40. to the Tag Image File Format, Revision 6.0.
  41. The header of each
  42. .SM TIFF
  43. file (magic number, version, and first directory offset)
  44. is displayed, followed by the tag contents of each directory in the file.
  45. For each tag, the name, data type, count, and value(s) is displayed.
  46. When the symbolic name for a tag or data type is known, the symbolic
  47. name is displayed followed by it's numeric (decimal) value.
  48. Tag values are displayed enclosed in ``<>'' characters immediately
  49. preceded by the value of the count field.
  50. For example, an
  51. .I ImageWidth
  52. tag might be displayed as ``ImageWidth (256) SHORT (3) 1<800>''.

  73. at the a particular file offset.
  74. The file offset may be specified using the usual C-style syntax;
  75. i.e. a leading ``0x'' for hexadecimal and a leading ``0'' for octal.
